As Nick&Rosie said, this is probably the only trig I’ve ever run DOWN to (from my chosen parking spot in Easington Colliery). Great little trig. Has to be one of my favourites!

A great coastal trig and easy to find. Walked from Noses Point near Seaham following coast path to Hawthorn Dene before a short detour off up Beacon Hill. Be warned cows and sheep are kept in the field but none on our visit. It was hazy but you could make out the North Yorkshire Moors.

My second visit, much nicer route from the S along the coast path, over the pedistrian level crossing and easy access into the Trig field at its SW corner. Fabulous coastal views. Surprised this TP isn't visited more often...

Centre cap missing, walked up from Thorpe Lea Farm on a very muddy track. Easy access to the trig and amazing views of the coast line however hindered but the drizzle and most. Would love to come back and do it in the sunshine.

Took a quick diversion from the Durham Heritage Coast Walk on a lovely sunny day. First had to cross the railway line (no worries) and then negotiate a field of cows and one large bull (lots of worries). Even as a farmer I didn't like the look of the massive horned beasts guarding my straight route.A circuitous and stealthy approach did the job without a chase. Great coastal views.

Pillar a little weather beaten but overall condition is good - spider open - ground erosion, approx 250mm of base exposed - no cattle today. Trig is not at local highest point. Sea views! It is worth spending an hour or two exploring over the railway line to cliff tops and down to the beach - some quite amazing finds await!

Approached from SW. Parked east side of road at NZ430445. Followed mapped RoW network to gate at NZ440454 then SE across access land to trig. Grazing land. Pillar in good condition and a breeding ground for ladybirds. Spider centre open. Flush bracket faces WSW, compass reading 253°. All four sight holes open, innards filled with debris. 360° open outlook includes a sea view.

Scratching post for the most southern Highland cattle I've seen. Pillar foundations are exposed, so a good shove from a scratching cow might push it over one day.
