No views due to low cloud. Pillar in decent condition considering it's location and exposure. Very inquisitive raven while we ate lunch. Easily done in a few hours from ski centre car park. Great camping at nearby loch Etchachan too.

Great to be nearly the highest person in Britain for all of 10 seconds. Great views with the cloud clearing just as we reached the summit. Climbed with Lorna and David hoping to see the Snowy Owl that has been here - no such luck. Too many people here today!

Walked up from the skii centre, along the east side of corrie an lochan then headed down to Loch etchatan and stayed in hutchinsons memorial bothy, and then wandered over derry cairngorm and down to Bob Scotts Bothy.

Climbed Macdui and Cairngorm from the Ski Centre. Easy walk up to Macdui on a great day. Clouds at summit when I arrived, but cleared by time I left. Mucher quieter than usual on the slopes of Cairngorm due to funicular being out of action just now. Agree with jonglew about the artificial path from Cairngorm summit down to Ptarmigan station - not enjoyable to walk on at all.

2nd of a 3-trig mini tour of Scotland. I had a fantastic sunny ramble up from the Funicular railway base station. There's plenty of parking, and a clear path all the way to the top. The clouds were scraping the top of Braeriach over the valley, but Ben Macdhui was giving out the 360 views! There were loads of deer just off the top n'all.

Walked out from the ski lift carpark - reasonable amount of snow around to hinder the progress. made the trig point in 3 hrs. TP well iced up and FB needed a serious scrape to clock the number. Excellent visibility across to Braeriach & Cairn Toul

An easy walk up from the Cairngorm ski centre car park. Still lots of snow on the plateau, but as it was melting made some difficulties with us disappearing into melt water under the snow in places, especially around Lochan Buidhe when crossing to Cairngorm summit. Good weather allowed for some views, but don't see much from the plateau, better at Cairngorm. We had a snow bunting pose on top of the trig pillar for us. Very disappointed with the artificial path from Cairngorm summit down to the Ptarmigan Station.

My Munro #191 My 3rd Munro of 5 on the day, on a route that started from wild campsite by the Fords of A'an, crossing the A'An to climb Beinn Mheadhoin, Derry Cairngorm, Ben MacDui, Carn a' Mhaim, (revisit of MacDui), before a long yomp round to Cairn Gorm and final descent back to the tent. The descent and re-ascent of MacDui to bag Carn a' Mhaim felt like a bit of a mistake at the time, it was a gruelling addition to the day, but ultimately worth it, I was glad not to have to come back for that Munro on its own at a later date.

Came over the plateau from Cairngorm, dropped down to Loch Etchachan to climb Beinn Mheadhoin after this one. Trig on a raised cairn/rock plinth. A lovely and bleak spot quite unlike any other summit I've been on.

vgc, asphalt plug, stands on stonebuilt platform reminiscent of Scafell Pike. Bouldery summit, fine view. Visited during the Rigby Round, covering 18 Munros & 75 miles, completed in just under 23 hours, in excellent weather.

Munro no.78, the second of the day after Derry Cairngorm and before Carn a` Mhaim. A long trip from Linn of Dee but was reached surprisingly quick. Any lingering cloud had vanished and the trig was surprisingly deserted. Not surprising were the excellent views

Walked in from Linn of Dee, camped overnight beside a frozen Loch Etchachan, the next day via Ben Macdui to Cairn Gorm and a meal at the Ptarmigan. Then back over the snow fields to collect my tent and headed back down Glen Derry to my car and home. Weather brilliant, great two days.

Ben Macdui is Scotland’s second highest mountain and its remote location at the S end of the Cairngorm plateau has long been a major reason for visiting the peak. In the 19th century, it was believed that Ben Macdui was the highest peak in Scotland and Queen Victoria rode to the top (on a pony) in 1859

This was the destination of the Scottish Geocachers Day Out. The weather opened up as we arrived and gave us some spectacular views. Considering it's exposed location, the pillar is in excellent nick but as the centre plug has been replaced with a cement/bitumen filler I'll follow my usual creed and mark it as 'slightly damaged'.

Only one visit so far.. And I had to limp out after emergency use of one of the howffs.. Knackered ankle. Sappers bothy was interesting as was the total absence of the Big Man.
