Parked on Whitelow Lane. Hopped a fence which lead to a grassy farm track. Walked to the edge of the trees and stepped over a section where the wall/gate/wire fence had collapsed. Followed the edge of the trees and over another gate into the trig field. The biggest obstacle on this one was a swarm of flies!

Starting from Dore train station. This was the 1st of 5 trigs on a 13 miles walk on a glorious sunny day. I enjoyed the walk through the woods up to this trig which is just the other side of a barbed wire fence. There's a gate leading into the trig field.

Parked on Whitelow Lane. Climbed over a gate into the field to the north of the pillar. Crossed over to the other side of the field and climbed over a gate into the trig field. The pillar can be found close by next to a wall

This Trig is local to me. I pass it on regular walks from home. I have not ventured into the private field where it is located. Preferring on my first visit to take photos over the wall from the highest/most northerly footpath through Blacka Plantation down to Shorts Lane. Take the northern access footpath from Hathersage Road into Blacka Plantation. Turn Left at the first junction. Follow the path around to the trig location. Find your way through bushes from the path to the dry stone wall. Trig is against the wall in the field.

Circular walk from Fox House via Ringinglow Trigpoint and Dore. Came in from east to enter Blacka Plantation. Opposite display board there is a path climbing up through the woods. ( marked on openstreetmaps only). Follow this right up to the trig point which lies the opposite side of wall with barbwire. There is a footgate which can be crossed 50 metres north of the trigpoint then double back along field boundary. (see my photograph)

Parked at the roadside and took the short walk through the Blacka Moor Nature Reserve leading to the dry stone boundary wall separating the reserve from farmland. The pillar is in good condition with nothing missing and is sited just the other side of the wall on farmland. Good views accross the farm towards Totley.

Followed path through Blacka moor from roadside parking. pass the stepping stone on right, follow path until odviovous path way through squeeze style on left, Follow path up hill to wall at the top, Then left and follow trigers path at the side of the field wall until you come to the trig just as the path starts to desend, The trig is on the other side of the wall.Trig in great condition with good views

Accessed from woods above. To save climbing the difficult wall with barbed wire fence, there is an easy gate at the north end of the wall!

Another detour off the Boundary Walk and called at the farm to gain access. Sometimes it is nice to engage with people and "do the right thing" by asking for permission to go on their land. The guy was so helpful and steered me to the gate in the field corner, trig is over the gate and by the plantation wall. Very wet and full Paramo gear kept me dry all day, these trigs are for the best waterproofs you can buy.

Took the adventure thru the woods but very wet today. I did call at the farm before hand but no one was home and as there are plenty of private property signs around the field thought I would be sneaky thru the woods.Good bag !

(1541) Called in at New Whitelow Farm. Permission to cut across their land, instead of having to go the long way round through the woods, freely given. The pillar stands in the next field along to theirs, but they said the owner wouldn't mind me visiting. All good and soon reached. And some cracking views to be had as a bonus. Pillar history: Built on the 29th of June 1947, at a cost of £6 0s 9d. Last maintained by the OS in July of 1985.

Parked on Whitelow Lane by New Whitelow Farm and asked for permission. We went through a roadside gate a few yards west of the farm, across a large field to a gate in the top right hand corner and over another gate to the visible pillar. Again, very good all round views today. The farm building is vey well maintained and I would advise to ask for permission.

nice trek through the woods and a bit of a weave over wire fences and open land but pretty easy to get to,great views,don't think this land gets farmed,entire field knee deep in Long grass.

Parked up at 285 813, crossed the road into the woods and down the hill a bit, headed back NE further down the hill and over a stream on a footbridge, then up the corner of the plantation where the trig is. It's just over the wall on private land..

First of a five trigpoint walk – thanks to barnsley skip for the parking location. Followed the route through the wood. Returned across the fields on the north side of the valley to the point where the lane joins the main road – avoiding the steep climbs in and out of the valley. Continued onto Ox Stones.

Accessed from path through the woods as per several other triggers. Easy access across crumbling dry stone wall but watch out for the electric fence just infront of the trig which precludes closer inspection. Views not that inspiring. Returned to Upper Burbage Bridge across the moor when a light shower resulted in a beautiful double rainbow framing the heather.

Seems I took a different route from previous visitors. Set off from road through gate by New Whitelow Farm, which doesn't seem to be a working farm any longer. The field had recently been mown, and a further gate gave access to the pillar.

Ok views eastwards; woods behind trig is SSSI (site of special scientific interest) a nature reserve which has a partial perimeter footpath around it with access from FP from A625. This goes dead near the TP but its on private land. Probably best to get permission from New Whitelow Farm.

Very much on private farmland. I asked permission at New Whitelow Farm and it was readily given. As a result acccess was realatively easy via opening gates. Not immediately visible until through gaate next to woodland. Good views to north and east. Excellent condition with original depressed lettering plub

On first visit the white pillar, which is by a dry stone wall above Roundseats Farm, was in deep snow which prevented access. Revisited on 18 September 1982 to take photograph of pillar at edge of cut field.
