(3341) Parked at the field entrance to the S of the pillar. Gate open and a easy 80m walk along the field edges. (Hedge overgrown so not really viewable from the roadside.) Pillar on plinth. All in fairly reasonable condition. Centre cap retained - with indented lettering. Nearby and to the left is the toppled remains of the original pillar. Pillar history: Built on the 10th of November 1938, at a cost of £6 17s 8d. Last maintained by the OS in July of 1978.

Heading north on the Foss Way pulled over at field entrance about three hundred metres north of the junction with the B4455. Should have looked over that gate into field to west, but walked along the verge looking into the hedge on west side of the road. Went past it as far as the next field gate, about three hundred metres further along. Then into field and south along the field boundary. Pillar accessible from that side. Slightly raised base. Spider and cap in place. Located about two miles south of High Cross, the intersection of two Roman Roads, Foss Way and Watling Street. Just read other logs which mentions the old pillar, oh dear, missed that.

Parked on the Fosse Way. Climbed over a gate into the trig field. The pillar is next to the hedge on the eastern side of the field. It replaced an earlier pillar, which lies in the hedge close to its replacement

re-visit to both pillars. down edge of field with some sort of bean crop. evidence of Painterman's visit, though only to the plinth pillar - he missed the adjacent toppled pillar in the hedge! disappointing that you cannot seperately log both, where they both exist, but elsewhere you can log a "visit" to something that isn't there!

Bagged on way back from visiting family, taking Fosse Way as an alternate route due to closure of Warwick bypass. Thus one is literally roadside, so had to bag it. Hard to see though the hedge, even at this time of the year. Jumped the ditch, but would have been just as quick to detour to the gate. Looks like an older pillar lying in the hedge next to it. Itchy.

4th visit. 1st for the extant pillar, 2nd for the toppled pillar, 3rd for both last year. Very easy access; over first double metal gates on left going NE from Cloudesley Bush road junction, then to right. Sited on platform which is worth standing on to look around. Very clear sunny Autumn day.

Parked in gateway climbed over gate and walked right, back along field hedge to Pillar, Trig in good condition with all its metal work still in place, There is also a second toppled Trig just to the left of it laid in the bushes

4 of 5 On way back from meet up with old school mates in Coventry. Trig on field side of hedge along W side of Fosse Way. (Roman routeways only look straight on a map.) It stands proud on a surprisingly higher concrete base. Agricultural views to W.

My first visit to Cloudesley Bush was only my 35th pillar and for that in situ on its plinth. Having recently noticed reference to a toppled pillar adjacent I had to return to view this. Unfortunately unable to log this separately on TUK but will do so on my spreadsheet as no. 2732.

2nd of 8 visited while my wife was at a Coventry conference. Parked across from Fosse Farm Cottage and walked up road to find this lurking behind hedge. Its predecessor's remains in adjacent ditch. Don't mind walking a bit of Roman Road, especially on a quiet Sunday morning.

Before anyone else does what I did, note this pillar is on the west side of the road! And park in the first gateway if approaching from the S, not the second, and therefore avoiding having to walk back along a road with ferociously fast traffic! In hedge on tall plinth, surrounding vegetation too high to find remains of old pillar. Extensive but flattish views. Metal cap, deep letters, S s/hole open, excellent condition.

After recce-ing ( OK , driving past without seeing it 'till too late ) a parking spot I turned the car and cruised back to the convenient gateway from where the pillar was easily visible a short stroll away on the field side of the hedge . The field is currently knee high bean plants and the margin quite uneven , but only perhaps 80m of it to negotiate to the pillar which is in good condition with all its metalwork in place and looks as if it has been painted white some time in the past . It stands proud of the field soil on its distinct concrete plinth. Nice views if you appreciate beans ... N52 28.668 W 001 18.975

I pulled off the Fosse Way into the field gateway a couple of hundred feet to the south and walked up the edge of the field, carefully avoiding the bean plants. The pillar is in good condition, has all it’s metalwork in place and is mounted on a very substantial plinth. The views are nothing to write home about but OK if you like flat, rural landscapes. Interestingly, there are the remains of a second pillar in the hedge a few feet away.

Vgc pillar standing on a hefty plinth at the field edge. As noted previously, on the field side of the equally sizeable hedgerow which obscures all views east. FB faces west-ish with south-ish sighthole open. Cap present with sunken lettering. Expansive views to all directions (except east!).

It is my 300th trig today and I really must be turning into a trignerd because I found a fallen trig 6 foot to the left of this one and it has made my day! No one mentioned it before on this site, so it turned into a nice surprise. Can't see the flush bracket side to this fallen trig which is a shame. Picture attached of the fallen trig.

1/2 - Good guess as I only had the xx xxx xxx OS location. Got lucky really. Just off the Fosse Way, pull in where the footpath ends (left as you are heading north). The pillar stands on a very high plinth about 150yards from the entrance to the field.

Not such a pleasant walk if the field has been newly ploughed! Fortunately the frost was still in the ground so it wasn't too bad. Original plug with slightly indented letters. S sighthole open, others closed. Some white paint. Base plinth exposed by at least 12" all-round. Views W over farmland but no views E due to hedge.

A pleasant bag on a fine summers day but no great views to be honest. It is in the field on the left side of the road if you are heading north on the Fosse Way.

White pillar on square plinth with corners trimmed, between hedge and ploughed field. Revisited on 31 May 1987: no change in condition.
