Second visit, same route as previous. Weather today however glorious instead of grim and foreboding so a very different perspective of Constable Hill. The walk up Earnscleugh Water is a delight, the tracks and paths across the moor make for easy walking. A decent score given for its relative remoteness.

Good condition pillar with very minor damage. Approached from Burncastle. Easy going on tracks and dry heather. Nice views. FB faces west-ish with north-ish and south-ish sightholes open. Bolt visible. Cap present with raised lettering.

A lonely pillar, quite remote and evidently little visited. No grouse shooting on Sundays, and this is right in the middle of butts all around so I had the entire area to myself on a beautiful day. Cycled from Lauder up to Twinlaw on the SUW then around sitting tracks to Constable and Dabshead. One of my best mornings :)

Done along with Constable Hill. Parked on the road up to Burncastle, NT5360950799. There is a new road which cuts straight across to Burncastle Lodge instead of having to go up to the farm and then back down. Followed the good track along the bottom of the valley to 'Bermuda' then up onto the moor. The quad tracks in the moor are distinguished and easily followed when needed. Done Constable Hill first then back to Dabshead Hill. Good bit of snow about but not so much to be a problem.

Approached along the ridge from Dabshead Hill, up the track and onto the moor via the grassy slopes by the grouse butts. These moorlands are a bit too bleak for my liking....we didn't linger long anyhow as it turned rather chilly when we were up there. We returned to Burncastle via the main track.

Followed the track up from Burncastle Farm below Dabshead Hill pillar. Made track all the way to within a couple of hundred metres of the pillar. I have been putting this one off because of it's remoteness but turned out to be an enjoyable afternoon walk . Good views E-S-W. Other than a bit less paint the pillar doesn't appear to have deteriorated since the last log in 2009. Overshot the pillar due to not being visible from the track and ended up at the memorial cairn 1km to the north.
