Parked at GR 783 105 & took the finger-posted path alongside parking 'heading' downhill to cross the river & proceed right. Continued on a variety of good forestry tracks eventually 'breaking-out' at the 'clearing' to go left uphill to the trig...A journey of 3.1 miles over about an hour with similar time & distance back but encountering some difficulty in re-locating the path downhill to re-cross the river. Remembering back to Top of the pops & Dawn, 'Tie a yellow ribbon round the old Oak tree'...carrying a bitt'a coloured rope could prove most useful not just for personal situations but to highlight for others one could inform here, 'tags' to look for in locating difficult to find trigs!

The previous posts are right about the rutting but what an unexpectedly wonderful spot - feel truly on a pivot between southern Snowdonia and the sailing lines of mid Wales. Blowy day, walked down to the edge of Corris and the slate mines then back up the haunting near empty road.

Easy parking at the end of the forest track to the NE. Once out of the forest a path winds around and then it is easy to pick a route to the top. Picked up a lot of other people's recent litter - you don't need to be a PI to work out it was recent given the eat by date on the M&S melon slices packet.

Lovely warm autumn weather and exceptionally clear - Pumlumon, and right down the Dyfed coast to Preseli, Dinas Island and beyond. Cader Idris spectacular from this angle. Aran Fawddwy just peeping out towards the NE. Scramblers down below on the forest tracks but no-one up here. As has been said - a gem

Drove to within 500m along minor road between Aberllefenni & Mallwyd. Parked in junction between road and forest road - plenty of room, walked along forestry track to gate through forestry boundary fence and ascended what is possibly the steepest slope in Wales. How trail bikes ascend them I'll never know. Rhayader_Wanderer is correct in describing this as a gem of a summit. It is. The only down on this day was the cloudy view to Cadair Idris, which of course cleared after descent. Views all around were superb even to Plynlimon.
