Parked at field entrance on NW side of road junc next to site of this trig; also handy for Berntsen on NE side of junction and FBM 80m E. Rivet gone with modification and enlargement to inspection chambers and concrete surrounds.

As others have done, measured out from the sketch, to realise the rivet has been lost due to modifications to the slab.

I can only repeat the previous baggers. Cannot find a thing. Lovely day for a walk. Bagged the other two trigs located nearby.

Agree with others. Why would it have been there in the first place was my thought with the FBM and Aux right next to it ?

There is indeed a large concrete slab surrounding the numerous metal covers but there is no sign of an OS rivet. Easy parking alongside. The site is on the verge of a junction of a couple of minor roads. There is a partial view northwards to Bridgwater and the Mendips.

Nice location, easy parking but unable to find the rivet. However, the two other nearby trigpoints are in place and worth a visit.

Agreed - gone. There is now a lot of spray paint markings (arrows etc) on the various covers.

OS sketch puts the location of the rivet on the water board installation, but there's nothing there to be seen. This one's a goner alright. GPS not much help as I was only getting about 14m accuracy from it.

Precise location found using OS sketch http://www.gps.gov.uk/stationpics/gif/C1ST2833.gif However, this skectch was drawn in 1993 and the concrete surround appears to be not so old. Also sketch of cover shows different shape/proportion to existing cover - see my photo aside. The rivet is therefore probably missing. I have let the OS know using the 'contact us' on the above website and I will post any reply here - Robin
TP0282 - Melcombe - Site but rivet possibly missing see 27 Oct 2005 log for information
Apparent loaction about here
