I think the rivet is now buried under the sand. I didn’t have time to dig it out.

Bagged as YSM703 Sand Bay Eventually spotted the rivet and got some mad photos. Also spotted an active surveying point which was very interesting, lovely sun day.

Found this a while back for logging a geocache - Ye Olde Survey Monuments, which got me intrigued enough to join this site. Will now become even more of a geek (or is it a nerd?) looking for weird stuff in the countryside.

Despite having a previous finders photo still took a bit of spotting. Not too many folk about today but the ones that did pass all gave me a strange look. Time for a cuppa in the café over the road, so says Mrs Dan.

Our usual festive outing to Weston and noticed this rivet and had to come for a look. Short search and soon spotted the shiny brass rivet. Good views from top of the embankment

Nice photo from cjo that helped in finding this elusive little rivet. Sand Bay cafe just across the road very good. Also a benchmark rivet and giant (in comparison) OSBM bolt a few 100 metres S on sea wall.

Thanks to previous baggers for photos and location details. It was a lovely warm day for the visit, the area rich with the two-wheeled kind. The two people on the adjacent bench were somewhat bemused at my apparent photography of the floor but I assured them when I told them I worked for the Plate Tectonic agency of the government.

I can only give comments from the window of the car. My pesky owner wouldn't let me out. He spent some time bent over, taking photos of the floor. Wierdo. Anyway, the couple on the bench looked jolly friendly and had marvellous sandwiches. Oh, if only I could have got out.

Sand and grass had covered the Stud, but thanks to the photos posted by others we knew were to look (thanks). This was the first of three trigs we visited in the area on a bitterly cold and foggy last day of the year (-3 degrees C).

The gate posts in the OS sketch have moved so my eternal gratitude to the kind person who painted the arrow on the concrete pointing towards the precise location. A couple of inches of sandy dune turf were kicked aside to reveal the tiny rivet. Middle Hope headland is at the end of the beach to the north; to the west are extensive sand and mud flats, the Mouth of the Severn, Flat Holm, Steep Holm and Wales; to the south Worlebury Hill and Birnbeck Island and pier mark the other end of the bay.

Only 14 days after the last visit and it was already well covered by encroaching sand. I was joined by a very friendly local who had previously seen this rivet, and was pleased to find it again. We re-covered it with sand.

Down here for the day to visit friends so could not pass up the chance for a couple of local trigs. Thanks to the OS link site photo, this was an easy find and I didn't have to dig for it as the grass around it has been neatly cut out. Good views to the sea [if you have your binoculars as the tide was out!].

Just where the concrete path meets the raised sand/soil/grass - you may have to dig for it to uncover it. It helps if you know what you're looking for - see pictures.
