We parked on the OCD-triggering Hatfeild View where parking is allowed at certain times and then simply walked down the road and onto the hospital grounds. We were completely unchallenged as we walked through to the final overspill carpark, and took the path cut into the long grass round through a sensory garden, and the pillar appeared next to the almost absurdly overkill inner fence. I know this is a secure unit, but unless they are treating a T-rex it feels a bit OTT. The pillar is in fine, weathered condition with a replacement cap. We returned the same way, again without any problem at all. Pillar #83 for my little trigbagger.

You cant even get thru the fence in the cul-de-sac. Inside this new fence is a complete circle of hawthorn, so if youre agile enough to leap the fence, you know what to expect. The whole area inside is being converted to a woodland park with high end picnic tables etc. The only place for access now is a gate on Bar Lane at the S side of the Hospice and about 130m W of the traffic circle. On entering the gate look for finger post to left pointing to Woodland Walk. Follow this around and up over the grassy knoll to reach the trigpoint.
