Driving from south about two miles north of Chillington on narrow lane squeezed onto verge at a field entrance (sure farmer would not be happy) at crossroads of lanes at Pinhey’s Cross. Along south side of field boundary of field to south west of crossroads. After about three hundred metres pillar visible to west above hedge on raised base. Actually an easier place to pull in here off the lane. Clambered up to photograph FB and remove ivy. Raised S prefix. Spider and cap in place. Misty at the time.

Staying at the local converted farm and had a wander up in the morning to take the dog for a walk and find the trig. Wonderful sunken lanes with a huge amount of floral diversity - it was like walking somewhere tropical. Picked wild strawberries for breakfast and was in very good humour when we got to the trig. Quite well hidden by bushes at first but climbed up the ridge once spotted. Not too bad condition.

A walk up the hill from our holiday cottage hired to celebrate Sis#2 significant birthday. Easy find, in good condition with metal cap although chunk out of NW corner, and some climbing needed to surmount its rather high base plinth. But on a sunny (but very windy) day climb was worth it for the good views north and east (west and south obscured by high hedges at this time of the year). Great blackberries as well.
