Walk long tracks West and North from the car park to the southeast of the hill... final trig of the day and highest, having started at 6:50 a.m. this one was the 11th trig and highest, and also completed a nice number sequence of seven visited today, from 2710, lowest at 2m, near which I'd slept the night -2716 Geekily delicious.S2710 is at 2m.

Day Two 2/9. Parked to West at Mogshade Hill and walked across heath on well marked PROW. Very pleasant walk through wooded areas. Trig sits at summit of hill in hedge of holly next to main path. Trig is in good condition with spider and FB intact.

Rode from the Acres Down car park, taking the right hand track at the first T-junction. Then it's up the hill, ignoring the track that branches off to the left. You'll see a bench on your right, before the track levels out. The Trig is situated on the left just after you pass between two posts on either side of the track. There's no views to the South as the pillar backs onto holly trees and woodland, but okay views North.

On foot from Acres Down House, headed north west along track, hill rises on left after about 700 metres, bear left and uphill. As ground levels out, bear left again. Pillar tucked up against holly bushes and vegetation. Views only towards north east. A few ponies and their foals about. Rode through ford to get to Acres Down parking spot.

Parked at Acres Down and walked up the hill. Intact but grubby pillar found in the treeline to the left of the two posts after the memorial bench and grave. Some pretty woodland views on the way to the pillar, and the horses were getting less timid...

KFD Parked at Acre Down (No Cream Teas until April 1 2020!) and realised I'd left the map at home. Worked our way around the boggy heathland and eventually found it (though D tried his best not to see it) up against a fence line backed by trees near a major path junction with a mossy fringe. No real view from the trig.

This should have been an easy ride from the last trig but the A31 got in the way. I couldn't cross it so had a rather long detour. Trig in good condition but no views because of plants around it. Loads of fungus!

Parked in car park near Stoney Cross. Then walked across to trig point on Hart Hill. Disturbed Adder on way back sunny itself. Police patrolling car park on return, they told us its a bad spot for car break ins.

Parked in Andrews Mare Forestry Commission car park (access at SU 25885 11396) for this and Stoney Cross surface block. Seems car park is used for courting couple, wasn't until I suprised the second couple that the penny dropped and I left them to their 'coupling'! All paths under water today so wet and muddy 1-mile walk each way to trig. Pillar in good condition; original cap missing, asphalt plug; all sight holes open. Surrounded by low woodland, no views.

From Acres Down CP and onwards to Bratley Plain on a misty and very still day. Rather adventurous walk as it turned out, including crossings of the A31 (a 15m dash PB!) and two streams, not what we expected in the New Forest. Rather surrounded by trees but an extra mark for ponies and autumn colours. Asphalt cap, all s/holes open, otherwise vgc.

Approached on direct line from minor road to the east but very boggy under foot returned on path running north and looping back to the car a far better decision. Again disagreeing on the statuscompared to my more usual upland or urban trigs this is very good condition

Second T/P of my day out with Motley Crew. Hiked across country from a narrow lane to get to this one. With hindsight, probably not the best route we could have taken. As the other logs have stated, the centre plug is missing and has been replaced with cement/bitumen. Typical New Forest landscape. The views are pretty enough but not sensational.

We parked at the Forestry Commission car park at Acres Down and walked along the lane past the cottages onto the little sandy path that follows the edge of the wood. Tarmac plug.

I'm writing this in Aug 2018 having just dug out some old maps and found notes on a few trigs I did 20+ years ago before I even realised this site existed! This was a busy Bank Holiday Monday out trigging. My notes only record time and the fact that we bought a nearby cream tea for £5.60. I remember the walk and the cream tea, but nothing too memorable about the trig.
