Been past a couple of times before. Visible from the A16 about three miles south of Louth, to south west. Turned west towards Haugham and pulled over by the avenue of trees. Across field to north west for about 250 metres along tractor track lines. Good views across open farmland. Blowing a gale at the time. Spider and cap in place. Base exposed by about six inches.

3 of 6 cycle trigging round Louth. No-one in at Ivy House Farm but two ladies at the stables at the back kindly helped me out. They switched off the power to the electric fencing and pointed out the trig, they wondered what the pillar was for and I duly explained. They said the locals call the place 'Haffam'. It's very near the Prime Meridian too. Trig is in fine condition and has good views. They told me to look out for the Humber, and there it was. On the way back I accepted the offer of a welcome cuppa and a chat. On to Kenwick Bar.

(243) I've been hoping to bag this Pillar for some time now, but as it's situated in the middle of a large wheat field, getting close had proved impossible. In fact, I couldn't even see it from the road. Travelling out this evening, on the assumption that the field would have been harvested by now, revealed that that was indeed the case. Result! And for a double bonus, I met two chaps at the Ivy House farm, who said it would be ok to visit the Pillar. It's about a 6 minute walk to the trig, and thanks to the recent rain, an incredibly muddy walk as well. Pillar looks very good, with fine views in all directions. Pillar history: Built on the 19th of April 1950, at a cost of £5 5s 4d. Last maintained by the OS in January of 1981.

This Trig is in the middle of a harvested field, so was an easy walk from road. I could see a couple of farm houses from the trig so didn't hang around. Last one for today and as it turned out, for the holiday.

Joint visit with Carole. Today the pillar was visible from the road but access across cultivated field in full view of farm a bit of a problem. We found and followed some suitable tractor wheel tracks that took us directly to the pillar. Everything in good order. Would not recommend trying to visit in the growing season proper.

I have passed this TP a few times looking out for a post-harvest opportunity, and at last successfully. I tried to find someone at the nearby farm but there was no-one around to ask, so I set out through the stubble. The pillar stands in a small island of grass and weeds so hasn't been damaged by machinery. The views are of large fields, not particularly inspiring. GR to 10m only.
