Visited to record FB number. The pillar was completed in May 1950 costing £48.15s.0d. In 1952 this marker was computed for triangulation as secondary station NY11/12 in the Workington block. Flush bracket S5948 was levelled for height also in 1952. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in August 1984. Stone built pattern. Spider centre had lost original OS plug and is now plugged with bitumen. The pillar photograph was taken by my mother while I stood at the pillar. Bagged 2/07/1991, GRP.

Great day out. First train from Manchester and bus from Penrith then Sheffield Pike, Raise, Helvellyn, Cofa Pike, Fairfield, High Pike and The Golden Rule (and bus and train home!). Snow on the ground, windy, hail and good views. Not my first or last visit to the trig, but probably the best (including walks via Striding and Swirral Edges).
