The pillar is in good condition stood on it's own rock and the views are extensive along all Nidderdale - from Great Whernside to Harrogate. Brimham Rocks, Pock Stones Moor, Lindley Moor, North York Moors, Eggborough, Drax, Menwith all in view. All other walkers stuck to the Nidderdale Way and the trigpoint was my own - so I had some birthday cake and a little celebratory JD. Cheers.

I regard this as my 'local' trig point and decided on my last visit that it needed some 'refurbishment' ie a coat of paint to make it stand out. Today therefore I visited it together with a brush and some white paint. It was a fabulous day for painting, hot and sunny with a drying breeze and even though there were rumbles of thunder in the far distance I reckoned the paint would be well dry before the rains came. In fact the first side was dry by the time I started on the fourth side. It certainly looks better for it and is now visible from a couple of miles away where before it merged into the surrounding rock outcrops.

Came upon this trig point by mistake! Failure to follow the Nidderdale Way correctly from the radio mast at Guise Cliff resulted in my passing (and therefore bagging!) this trig point. Excellent views in all directions.

The boys, Margaret & I walked up from Glasshouses. Finding a route up the cliff face was a bit problematic but we managed it and then saw the proper path up at the top!! Lovely views on a nice, sunny October afternoon.
