Parked at the cottages, up the hill, through the gate and kept walking until we found it - Strange it's not at the highest point but good views over Jedburgh and Peniel Heugh.

Parked at the gate at the road bend. Along the field boundary in the twilight. Now away to the Chippy in Earlston which is very good.

Parked at convenient bend in road Old Howden Cottages. Uphill walk on road, through an open gate and two sides of a field boundary. Pillar located next to an open gate. Fields have been harvested. Pillar is situated close to field boundary and the missing gate is now leaning against the trig point. Spider intact. Great view especially NW across to Jedburgh.

Simple walk along the field boundary from the road corner to the north east. Reasonable views.

Probably picked the wrong time of year to bag this one, as it involved treading carefully through long grass on field edges, trying to avoid nettles & thistles...had to access from neighbouring field as the field the trig was situated in was rather overgrown! Standard field edge trig but decent views across Jedburgh to the hills beyond.

Jogged from Jedburgh centre (walked the steep bits) but you can drive and park at bend east of Howden cottage by the woodland strip. Over gate and couple of minutes along field boundary. easy bag and nice views.

Felt quite trespassy this one. Walked up to the road junction west of the trig and followed field edges, having to climb a couple fences. In full view of cottage, but no one about, except a few dog walkers. Good views though

Break in the drive home from Northumberland to Edinburgh, and a revisit for photographs and GPS reading. SITE VISIT: Parked roadside at NT657194, walked due south across grazing field to pillar. Pillar on SE side of fence in arable field and in good condition. Spider retains cap with deep indented lettering. Flush bracket faces SE, ~131° into arable field. All four sight holes open. Views over Jedburgh.

Situated on a fenceline, cereal crop to south, sheep pasture to north. Reasonable views north. Pillar has remnants of white paint and retains plug, large deep indented lettering.

First visit. To record FB number. The pillar was completed 23rd July 1953 costing £13.17s.0d. In 1954, flush bracket S7564 was levelled for height. This marker was computed for triangulation as tertiary station NT72/T50 in the Jedburgh secondary block during 1957, and last maintained by the OS on 24th November 2000.
