Finally bagged this one (It's the ninth closest to where I live). I got off the train at Marple and took the towpath on the Peak Forest Canal heading south. I then got off at Bridge 20 and headed uphill to The Ridge Road. I accessed the trig field via low metal fence which is situated to the rear of no 7 Kestrel Close. Short walk up to the pillar which is in fine condition. I didn't notice anybody at 22 so didn't have to wave. Horrible rainy day so I took my pics, headed out of the field, back over the canal and then returned to the train station via the Goyt river route, passing the flood gates cottage. Nice walk despite the weather.

End of a cul-de-sac and over the wall in the field.

Walked to the trig via Kestrel Close and then squeezed through the gap in the hedge. Hopped over fence and 5 metres to the trig, almost in the garden of number 22. Good views from Marple Ridge over the valley to the next pillar, could make the cross on the ridge out. Peak and Northern Footpath Society signs are quality and made to last, each one is unique and usually erected in memory of a deceased person.

Relatively easy to get to via a gate that you have to climb over at SJ 962871 on Ridge Road. Trig is 100yds up the top of the field. Nice views to the West.

Parked at entrance to Kestral Close and walked back to main road. Up some steps and over a small gate, then walked up field to a grimy looking trig that is almost in someone’s garden. Really good views towards Cobden Edge, the next trig to visit.

Parked just outside 22 Kestrel Close. Lady was putting bin out so I asked, she said its best to go through the field rather than over the wall. As I could tig it from in the garden I was happy to tig it and leave.

On way to Manchester to see my brother, did a short detour for this trig and surprised to see the views over the Cheshire plain and more. Mind you, the weather was superb, I wished I was out walking. Went to 22 Kestrel to see the trig in the field right next to their garden wall but no-one was in. In the end walked along the footpath on the other side and nipped over the gate in to the field; I suggest park near the church on Ridge Road and nip in to the field from there-there is room to pull in. Tried to imagine the views N now obscured by the houses.

No need to trouble the adjacent resident as this one is easily accessed via gate into field from Ridge Road. Very friendly owner came out whilst I was visiting and said they have been there 25 years and are used to people coming to see the pillar. Even said someone has visited on Xmas day and brought along a 4 pack of beer with them !!

Accessed the trig from the field side via the gate near to the public footpath. Nobody appeared to be at home in number 22. Pillar still appears to be in good condition. Some absolutely stunning weather and visibility conditions today. Western hills of the National Park looked good enough to eat and from the viewing point further along the road I was also able to pick out the tops of the Clwydian Range far, far beyond the Cheshire Plain.

I stayed in the confines of Kestrel Close rather than jumping the wall. Still felt weird taking a picture so close to someone's front window on a sunday morning. "Oooz that weirdo aaaaat theer!?"

Walked out here from Disley on a muggy afternoon. Did full loop of the field to find a good access point, best access and view from Kestral Close. Chose not to jump the wall, but took some pics from the drive. May revisit one night to have my customary picnic by the trig.

Metal plug [indented letters]. Private [owner unknown]. Approached across a field of long grass, above which the pillar just raises its head. Easy enough to access. The houses come right up to it on the other side, so it's perhaps lucky to survive.

Easy find, although like others were a little unsure as how to approach it. In the end we went accross the field and stepped over barbed wire fence. Only when we returned through gate did we see the footpath was before and not through the field! oops!

Visible but only really accessible by going into a garden and climbing the boundary wall. Like others I went and asked at No.22 and was given permission. Pillar is in good condition with original indented lettering plug. Views are somewhat resrticted.

knocked on at 22 and asked the dude for permission to hop ove the wall, hes a nice guy, lived there for a while he came out after we were there for a bit and started tellin us lot some stories about how someone jumped over his wall one Christmas and 3 or four lads with cans were sat round the trig drinkin, he asked what they were doing and they replied "were celebrating the trig that weve just bought"!? good christmas present or what, id like to know who these guys are!

Turn into Kestrel Close, drive to the end and the pillar is just over the wall of number 22, in the field.

It may be builderised, newish bungalow here, but I suspect its hidden in a garden. The 1:25k shows a plot which is now occupied by a bungalow. If surviving, its behind the house. The field I thought it was in is no longer used, and I suspect will soon be hosting some expensive housing. Lovely views from here over the canal towards Kinder.
