The first of 8 bags on New Years Day. We were a tad nervous about the close proximity to the prison wall but it was fine. Parked just down the road in a layby and followed the line of conifers before dipping through once level with the trig pillar. A quick photo and exit before we were offered a night’s accommodation at His Majesty’s pleasure

I was worried about this one being near a prison but easy bag, short walk alongside conifers then into the clearing by fence. Camera above the trig but wasn't too much of a trespass. Flush bracket getting buried in conifer pines. No views to see.

Second of four trigs bagged on the way to Lincoln. Parked in layby for short walk to conifer Tree line that separated the prison from a field planted with sweetcorn. Couldn't see the trig until I was very close. No views to speak of. The pillar appears to be in good condition and retains all its metalwork. The ground level appears to have been raised since the pillar was originally sited.

Second stop on way back from Peterborough Beer Festival. Decided to park up in the field gate rather than private road. Walked along path, then over low metal fence and along side of pig field until the pillar was visible through the foliage. Found out that best way through the conifers was to walk backwards. Pillar in very good condition, but non existent views. Pigs seemed happy, not sure about the prisoners as the wind was blowing in the wrong direction for them......

Not an inspiring location so I gave this a 4. I parked at the bus stop on the south side of the A620 near the prison entrance. A short metal fence to hop over then a field edge walk between the electric fence and the conifers until the fence forced me into the conifers. The passage through the trees was not too scrambly. The pillar is in good condition, not surprising in view of its location, with all top metalwork intact.

Then it was simply a matter of walking the wide field boundary and peering through the conifers every once in a while. Soon spotted. FB faces the prison wall, so not much of a gap to get a decent photo. I thought this one might be difficult, but all passed off OK. High marks for the unusual setting.
