Parked on Banks Lane. Headed north east from Silsden Road through 3 fields, climbing over several walls in the process. Then headed north west from SE 07577 44417 until I was immediately east of the pillar. Then climbed over a wall into the trig field. It was a short walk from there to the pillar

Revisit after eleven and a half years the trees have been felled and re planted. Trig now has a coat white paint great views today in the sun could see Pendle hill easily also found the nearby old pivot.

Part of a run from Keighley Road on Ilkley Moor bagging the 'other two Rombalds Moor trigs', approached from the East before picking up official PROWs and access land to Overgate Croft Farm. Again looks newly painted.

Twas the day before another lockdown, the roads were heaving the hill was beautiful. Worth missing out on a last chance of a pub pint (just). Think the no access sign on the road is about how busy the place is and there are still functioning forestry ops - there is a rough track straight to the trig before the gate. Got the rivet up the wintry road drawing an amused tha's daft from the local friendly gamekeeper.

Excellent views from up here. The pillar is in very good condition. Accessed via the footpath from the east from Ilkley Road across Brass Castle to the access point in the woods and follow the wall toward Rivock Edge.

We parked on the wide verge at the junction of the access track for the mast, and walked up. As we approached, several estate workers/gamekeepers were packing up, so we ambled a bit until they'd all gone, and discreetly headed west on the ROW until the wall at SE 07217 44798, and followed that straight up the hillside. As the plantation has been completely felled, the ground is a tough scrub of forestry debris and stumps. The pillar is quickly reached across the small plateau and has wonderful views. It is also - despite being on private land, with gamekeeper protection (?) - very well cared for, with sumptuous bright white paint and scrubbed of all vegetation. A lovely spot. We avoided any risk of damaging walls/newly-planted trees or disturbing cattle by returning via the empty fields to the south-east of the trig.

Walked up on a revisit from Keighley bus station after arriving on the 10.30 66 Dales bus from Skipton,the forest is completely felled on the western edge now.Found old BM on boulder SW of pillar,great views in good weather.

Approached from southwest. Parked by road beside track entrance at SE069400. Followed mapped bridleway to SE609442 then (non RoW) track to SE072447 and followed broken wall onto summit plain. Pillar in good condition. Spider centre filled with tar. Flush bracket faces SSE, ~167°. Vented through three sight holes FB face still plugged, innards filled with debris. 360° open outlook from top.

Followed the good path (not shown on maps) on the E side of the forest wall all the way from the Buck Stones on Rombalds Moor to very close to the trig before hopping over the wall and strolling to the pillar. Delightful spot.

Straightforward walk-up the edge of the wood from the Silsden-Riddlesden road. Trig in good condition with filled-in plug. An imposing cliff top position overlooking Keighley but one which has been partially hidden now by the conifer trees below.

Walk over Rombalds Moor on wild and windy day, with woodland providing some welcome relief from the gusts. Had to jump over dry-stone walls to access the trig. Part of a circular walk taking in Overgate Croft Farm and Whetstone trigs.

Easily accessible and visible. I came to this one from Overgate Croft Farm using the path across the forest corner (very boggy in places). Then followed wall south-west to re-cross into forest at crossing wall then across open area to reach the pillar. Excellent condition. Glorious views across Airedale.

Second visit in 12 months - remembered the camera this time. My 2005 & 1997 maps show it amongst the trees but as previously noted it's actually in open field. Good view across to Keighley although a line of trees in front may mar it if they grow much higher. I came up from Ilkley and jumped the wall/fence at West Buck Stones and although it isn't shown on the map, a path follows the wall by the woodland on your right all the way to the trig which you'll find just beyond where the woodland ends - you'll need to climb a wall on the way and a second one to gain access to the trig (you'll see where it's been done before).

I attempted to park near the entrance to the track to the mast but it was already occupied by a couple pursuing a different hobby. Walked up to the trig to the right of the trees.
