Parked to the North just past 'Ash Plants'. Managed to squeeze the van into the area near the gate to the track which leads up towards the trig. Followed the track initially and then up through silage grass and gates. One wall to negotiate. Back the same way to get changed at the van and get lunch from M&S before going to work.

Cycling The Bay Cycle Way over two days and the route passes below this pillar. Took the obvious route from the north with only a wall to cross at the top. So with tongue in cheek, I can honestly say I visited "The Alps". Very hot. I dedicate this pillar with a mighty name to the "Lionesses" and their victory two weeks ago. So very, very proud of our women.

Another consolation trig walk. In Ulverston area to walk out to Chapel Island in the estuary, but the walk was cancelled due to recent heavy rainfall scouring out the channels. So next best thing was to get a superb view of the Leven Estuary from 'The Alps' .Is the name official or just a nickname? As we enjoyed the sunny views out to sea, a nasty shower crept up behind us from the Coniston fells and gave us a soaking
