Parked by church in Thornton in Craven and did a splendid circular taking in Earby. Also collected 20+ BMs along the way. Just as sun was sinking I hot footed it to Pinhaw Beacon to bag my 2nd trig of the day [unusual for me - I'm a one-a-day person normally!]

Parked at the cemetery car park and wondered past a lot of wonky graves to reach an old clapper bridge. We bravely crossed the bridge into enemy territory (Yorkshire.) Next there was a warning to look out for golfers but there were none in sight nor any flying golf balls, which I would have thought would be the real hazard. Then a short pull up towards a mast for good but cloudy views

Parked in the layby at St. Mary's church, and walked up to the public footpath 100m down the road. Left the ROW to hug the wall up to the mast, and a few yards uphill sits a fine pillar in great nick with lovely, far-reaching views. A great start to a round; returned the same way. No issues with access, livestock or crops - just wet trousers from the long grass.

Revisit I alighted the X43 Grassington bus at Rolls Royce works which is opposite Ghyll Golf Club on Skipton Road.A short walk up over golf course to trig,I also found the Rivet BM this time round.on wall east of the pillar.Howling wind up top today I didn't hang around long & managed to get back down in time for the X43 back to Barnoldswick.

Walked up from the Thornton - Barlick (Barnoldswick) road. A right-of-way goes across the field so not much of a detour to get to the trig though when I cut down the field to the gateway I did get a 'goml' horn blast from a passing tractor. The trig is plainly visible on the skyline as you go from Thornton to Barlick. In good condition (plastic plug) and situated near to the comms mast.

Visited to record FB number. The pillar was completed 30th April 1949 costing £18.1s.11d. In 1951 this marker was computed for triangulation as tertiary station SD96/T47 in the Skipton secondary block. Flush bracket S5300 was levelled for height in 1962. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in May 1976. Covered resr nearby but trig is free range.
