2/2, From Cefn Llechid in west, walked in winter sunshine along very nice stretch of open moorland bounding either side of string road which is probably following the line of the ancient Sarn Helen. Then up over open hillside, again close cropped of bracken, to reach summit hill fort. A fine vantage point, high above the river Usk with popping of small arms from the Eppynt training ranges beyond. To the south, across the Tarell valley, the view is dominated by the northern slopes of Pen-y-Fan and Corn Ddu. Couldn't spot a green route east so had to settle for B-road into Brecon for R&R and bus home.

When I arrived at the Trig it was being painted by a lady (from Cardiff) who explained that this was her *adopted* Trig point and she paints and maintains it about once a year. As a walker she explained that whilst out walking in fog/mist etc they can be very useful and the easier they are to see ther better - can't argue with her either and I am going to look into adopting my own local trig point if this scheme is still available. I think she did a good job of painting it, don't you?
