Stone built pillar in good condition with GPS plaque; plug replaced by plastic cover. Easy, grassy track from SE. Scenic views - not quite as crowded as might be expected for an Easter Saturday but busy enough with traffic congestion in Keswick. A day of sunshine without showers.

Superb moonlit walk through fresh powder snow at 4.30am. Really clear in all directions; westwards towards the coast and a very white Skiddaw looming up to the southeast. Someone else had already been up here in the middle of the night and left a cute mini snowman up on top of the pillar. All in all quite a classic winter-walking experience to last long in the memory.

I have never marked trigs a ten, until this one. The weather cleared and the views were the best I've seen in the lakes, with Back o' Skiddaw, Borrowdale, and out towards IoM. Also saw a hen harrier, a first for me and made the day. An easy walk from car park, although myself had came from Bassenthwaite by foot along Cumbria way. Clear weather window lasted 15mins, thankfully when at the top.

After a wonderful Skiddaw Horseshoe via Ullock Pike/Longside/Skiddaw/Cock up I found I had 2.5 hrs until the TBTL. I was nearer to Binsy than Keswick so drove and bagged this pillar/Birkett/Wainwright at dusk and my favourite part of the day. A stand alone "hill" with magnificent views of the back of Skiddaw. Remember good old Scampi Fries, they are still going and they were the nearest us poor people got to tasting real scampi. Gifted Binsey for lasting so long despite Onion Rings and Monster Munch muscling in on the market.

Walked up to the top of Binsey from the road by Binsey Lodge. The wind was fierce on the day I did it, but there were still great panoramic views. Binsey is a favourite walk of mine, so will definitely be up there again.

It has been 23 years since we last walked up Binsey. Then we had 3 excitable young children running ahead and racing to the summit. Today we took our time and appreciated the quiet beauty of this corner of the Lake District . The years march on and life changes but the hills remain eternal. Pillar at the top in very good order.

Whilst staying near Keswick on holiday this nearby fell gave us a pleasant circular walk from the minor Bewaldeth road. This let us take in the traditional stone trig where we had some relatively good views in the morning sunshine.

Cracking little hill with excellent views. AW's No 190 ticked. Traditional stone pillar. plug filled but all other metalwork intact. a few people around today on BH weekend. Good visibility but really cold.

Difficult to say about the views - a glimpse of Creiffel and the Solway coast as the cloud slowly lifts, so green and lush. Quick drive to Over Water afterwards to visit neighbouring fellow Marilyn - Knott, beautiful place

Revisit tried to pick a good un for my mates 500 th trig was disappointed with the weather as the views are great from here but today it was misted out.Trig in vgc in rustic stone had to help mate climb trig luckily there was a foot hold on the corner which helped.He was quite overwhelmed with reaching a total of 500 pillars above half attained with just public transport!

Pleasant walk up to this Wainwright peak from good parking to SE. Stone-built pillar approx 15m W of summit point. Some damage to top surface, hence the 'Slightly Damaged'. Cap missing, composite plug; only 1 sight hole on LHD side - open; spider off-set from centre. Good views limited by a sunny haze.

We had already been up one of the Wainwrights earlier in the day - Dodd, further down Lake Bassenthwaite at the foot of Skiddaw. We had enough time for another little 'un, but not enough time for one of the bigger fells... so we drove up to Binsey. Nice easy stroll up a grassy track from Binsey Cottage. Fantastic views of the Northern Fells (Back O'Skiddaw) and the North-Western Fells over Bassenthwaite. Slightly too hazy to see over the Solway into Scotland. Trig=point in very good nick, with a couple of small cairns and an interesting ancient tumulus nearby. Lovely walk. You don't have to be much of a fell-walker to bag this summit either.

Easy climb up from the south. At the summit are a lot of loose boulders formed into crude shelters, refashioned from a prehistoric cairn. Good views across the plain and into the Lakes, pity about the grotty weather.

Easy ascent from SE. On a very windy day, 5 of us here to celebrate Jonathan de Ferranti's 600th Marilyn and thus his entry to the Marilyn Hall of Fame! Found a sheltered corner to do justice to the goodies and whisky he'd brought :-)

HISTORY: Pillar constructed around November 1949, exact details not on record. Computed as secondary triangulation station NY11/2 within the Workington block during 1952. Levelled for height also in 1952. Last maintained by the OS in 1977 but continues to be serviced as a GPS passive station. SITE VISIT: Approached from ESE via mapped track. Followed mapped track to top. Stonebuilt pillar in good condition with GPS plate affixed. Plastic plug. Flush bracket faces SSW, ~197°. Vented through westmost sight hole. Views include Skiddaw, Criffell, Barren Fell. GPS reading spot on.

Parked in very small car park at Over Tarn.Walked to High Ireby then Ruthwaite.The scenery is more akin to the Peak District with lots of greenery. A moderate ascent gets you to the cemented rock trig point. Some carved initials were visible. Good all round views on on a lovely sunny day from the most (allegedly) northerly crag in the Lake District.

Binsey offers splendid 360 degree views, but especially of Bassenthwaite Lake and Skiddaw. This pillar is built of stone and mortar and has a National GPS Network plaque attached. Parascenders were in action today (6th July 2003)
