I like it here in Wilmington. A decent walk from any direction (I chose the longer but less steep path from the wildly uneven car park off The Street), with absolutely stunning views across the South Downs in most directions all the way. Pillar easily reached by following the fence line uphill from the gate on the main track to the east of the Long Man. Met two other ramblers whilst I was there, both of whom regularly included the pillar in their rambling - one even told me that touching it was part of his ritual! Fair enough; me too, but rarely the same one twice! Stopped to just sit and enjoy the view from the buttercup-strewn embankment above the Long Man. It's so very beautiful and peaceful up here. I can see why you'd want to visit this trig more than once.

Parked on a road called 'The Street'. Took the public right of way (PRoW) from there up to TQ 54428 03345. Left the PRoW at that point, and then took a footpath that runs east up to the summit of Wilmington Hill and the pillar

We stopped to visit this trigpoint on a circular route around the headland and inland hills in stunning Easter sunshine. The fifth and final trigpoint of the day, and this was probably the best one. An exceptional view from up here, and views over to the reservoir.

An enjoyable if strenuous walk from the car park at Wilmington where the best views of the Long Man are seen. Quite a steep climb. At the top above the Long Man, turn left and head east. Pillar is about half a mile further on. Across a stile and possibly a fence. Great views. Sunny and blustery December morning, invigorating. Good find.

2.5 mile circular from car park at Wilmington, walked up path through woods to north of the summit then followed track on map climbing relatively steeply to trig, descended via the Long Man back to car park. A few people about, sunny with strong winds. Great far reaching views from summit. First trig of the day afterwards bagged Alfriston FBM, Cliffe Hill, Wolstonbury Hill and Chanctonbury Ring.

Walked from Alfriston 2.5k following the SDW with a strong wind. Tough 1hr uphill climb but worth it. Passed 2 Neolithic barrows on the way. Difficult to see the long man as you are up high, above his head. Stunning views of the Weald.

Parked by the church at Folkington and then with Helen & Molly we walked West to climb up steeply to the summit and Trigpoint before continuing on over the Long Man and then circled round under the hill figure following the Wealdway and back to the church. We saw a Falconer sitting high on the slope flying a Harris Hawk.

Fabulous walk up from the rustically charming church at Folkington in glorious spring weather with the may-bushes and wild flowers at their most spectacular. Pillar fine with cap in place and shallow lettering; one sight-hole open. Then over to meet the Long Man Of Wilmington. Perfect afternoon.

Parked in the Wilmington Priory car park and walked east to The Holt before veering south to walk over the hill, a Marilyn, to the trig. Continued above the Long Man before losing height and swinging east to walk under the Long Man for good views of it. Pillar is in good condition and good 360 views to be had.
