In pen, in hedge, with large sycamore emerging. The enclosure protrudes forward from hedge making it obvious. Overgrown. Parking on gras verge adjacent. Standard design- low, squat square . With height tag.

Easy find on way back from Scotland. Just off minor road past farm track in playpen to south of road. Drove to and bagged Penshaw Hill trig near Sunderland afterwards.

We originally drove past this and couldn't see it but was easier to see coming the other way as the cage was visible. Plenty of vegetation around it, partly cleared by previous visitor.

Very easy roadside find, getting a bit over run by vegetation. Did our best to clear some away, might come back this way again with a set of 'loppers' to do the job properly. Our 7th 'Not Pillar' OS Point, have to say this was as satisfying as any roadside pillar and considerably less frustrating than most of the bolts, blocks and rivets we've wasted time looking for recently!

Found and a good one to mark 100th of the year! Thanks to the sycamore - lovely walk to the edge of Greensheen (previous beautiful bag). Glorious views of the grey edges of Cheviot, Ros and the sun of Lindisfarne.

Found it on my third visit! South side of the road. The "cage" of railings is completely overgrown by privet, but it stands out from the original hedge line. The large sycamore growing from inside the cage is another good marker!

This FBM is beside a lane that is a turning off the old A1. This confused me as I was navigating with an old OS map that still showed it as the A1. Fairly overgrown inside the fence and branches needed to be held aside to photograph the FBM.
