Seems the OS have carried out an upgrade since last photo was posted to this site in Nov 2009. There are now only 3 antennae and they are of the standard Leica type. Which one is number 1 and which number 2 remains unknown. Lighthouse built 1874 by Mersey Docks and Harbour Board, now operated by Trinity House. There are 2 holiday lets within the lighthouse compound, fortunately (for the guests) the fog horn was decommissioned 2012. Cut benchmark on entrance archway and a trig bolt just down the road.

Good mark for the sceenary and the history of the place. Took a walk all around the outside. I walked around the island in a week back in 1986 and enoyed it lots. It was a pleasure to come back again.

Fabulous day, wind howling against a clear blue sky. Every turbine on the island was going a full revs! The lighthouse looks to be unmanned, with it's two antenae very evident. My GPS did nothing special, but I guess it's not tuned to the frequency put out from the active station. Got the Port Eilian bolt on the way. And no dogs!!
Antena No 1, from below to west. Wind howling in the guy ropes
