Walked along embankment from the bridge over The Trent, recently mown, so block was easily visible.

One of six trigs bagged today in the Gainsborough area. This one is easily located just a short walk down the embankment. As logged by someone else it can be found just in line with apex of the factory roof on the opposite side of the embankment. I brushed the loose dirt away to expose the concrete top with a central 3" bolt.

(318) Whilst the weather is keeping relatively fine, and to mix things up a bit, I drew up a list that included trig points in Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire, as well as in my main focus of Lincolnshire. Parked up just inside Nottinghamshire at the Trent Port restaurant, and walked the short journey down the PRoW to the location. Easily found the right spot thanks to previous logs, and the actual trig itself is still largely uncovered.

Large, rather battered, bolt easily found on the embankment. But the 50p has gone :)

I thought this would be easy to find after Chris's tidying last year, and his clear references but after several minutes of walking and scraping grass with my boot I had to resort to the long screwdriver to find it. Some grass growth over the block had occurred with only some longer grass flattened over it.

Its here! 3" bolt on a standard concrete block found at the surface. On north edge of embankment in line with the apex of the roof of the factory on the opposite bank extended by the end of the fence which runs to the waters edge. Gave this one a nice tidy and left it uncovered. Fennomark B28 a little further along the embankment at GR SK 81405 88897.

Couldn't find it 24th Oct 2013  12:32  by Brisey

A pleasant day for a walk along the bank of the River Trent but a failure to find this surface block is not surprising. No diagram and no certainty that the flood bank height is the same as when the block was installed. Poking around with my long screwdriver led me to excavate a couple of patches of pebbles under the grass but no block. An Environment Agency bench mark is located to the NE, on the top of the bank at SK 81297 88732 (my measurement).
