Parked on the A53 in an old fenced off bend in the road. Followed a grassy footpath up to the road on the edge of the moor (where it turns out there's a lay-by with space for a car). There's a fairly clear path across the top of the Moor. A little soggy under foot at times, but relatively straight forward visit.

I parked just off the A54 near the PROW marked on OS. From there I followed the triggers path to the pillar. It is in generally good condition but appears to have a replacement centre for the spider that looks like the original. Good views.

Hopped over the barbed wire fence then followed this track downhill before doubling back across former mine workings and eventually emerging onto the A54. After a short walk East along the main road to the BOAT at SK032713 I then headed directly up to the pillar on a bearing of 160. Springiness underfoot made it surprisingly hard going. Pillar (which sits atop a mound surrounded by stones) finally reappeared as I broached the summit. Cap has been replaced by a plastic insert and there is slight cracking to the top but otherwise everything is in good order with just the one sighthole open. Views good but not quite as good as from Burbage Edge. Chrome Hill easily recognisable but views in this direction are generally blighted by active quarry workings. Descended to Dane Head and then followed the tarmac back to Derbyshire Bridge.
