I didn't realise this was a trig point as I was looking for the familiar trig point look. I guess I have a lot to learn

Grade II listed disused lighthouse constructed 1762, or 1763 according to the plaque above the door. Ceased to function 1908. OS lists Lighthouse, Centre and Bolt as components. The first destroyed 1951, presumably when the top was taken off and the structure was capped, at which time the Bolt & Centre were computed.

Built in 1763 by the Mersey Docks and Harbour Company to guide shipping in to the Port of Liverpool. It was built as part of a pair of lighthouses, with the second positioned a quarter of a mile out to sea. The second lighthouse was destroyed by a storm in 1769. It was replaced by the Bidston Lighthouse. The Leasowe Lighthouse was closed on the 14th July 1908. There is a cut benchmark on the north west face

A fine 18th Century lighthouse walked to from the fine early 20th C water tower on the horizon at Gorsehill. A small flock of snow buntings on the bank, a brilliant cold walk back with the white moon over the docks. Magic. Last trig of 2020.
