Myself, Alma Aurea and Hitman9956 were having a blustery walk up here today, and I noticed the trigpoint on the map so we detoured to it. No one on the golf course in this weather so easy enough to walk over, pleasant views.

Approached from the south via the public path into the grounds of the course. As the grass was yellow and dead in the heat, the path couldn’t be seen… so I walked straight to it between golfers turns

I approached from the North along the footpath from Heath Road. It was a Saturday so quite a few golfers on the course. I waited near the nearby rocks then dashed across the fairway to bag. Golfers on the opposite side fairway so I took my pics and headed back to the path and on to the Observatory.

(2369) Good parking on Blackmoorfoot Road. Pillar situated on a golf course, but handily a PRoW (albeit ill-defined) takes you more or less straight to it. Pillar in overall good condition, though the centre cap is non original. Pillar history: Built on the 18th of April 1937, at a cost of £5 2s 1d. Last maintained by the OS in February of 1959.

One of three pillars visited during a trip to Holmfirth. This one is on a golf course and is easily accessed from the road side via a way marked path. It is set in the midst of a bank of heather between the fairways. In good condition though the original spider is missing. Outside the golf course the views are limited.

What a glorious spot - last trig before a birthday that should have been in Scotland. This is particularly sweet - fairly close to home and looking across at where I lived at Poly/Uni. I think last of the Hudds trigs to be done. Back through Honley woods with the sun beaming down.

Access from the layby on Blackmoorfoot Rd. Up the old access track to the Huddersfield Observatory, over the small stile in the wall and dodge across the 5th fairway to gain the pillar. Plug removed and capped other wise all metal work intact. reasonable views but didn't hang around as we came under attack from a straying golf ball driven from the nearby Tee.

Took full advantage of the non-golfing day! Parked in layby to the SE and walked along track to the observatory then hopped over a very low wall, then a simple stroll to the pillar. Good views across to West/Shooters Nab and Pule Hill.

Clearly signed footpath from road, but then undefined on golf course. Tackled for being on "private land" and pointed in other directions for possible footpaths, but then complete change of attitude and helpful when said I was after a visit to trig point!

Good parking in the layby below the observatory. Lots of golfers about – got some strange looks and spoke to one group who tried to direct me back onto the path but managed to get to the pillar and dodge the golf balls. Realise as I write the log that this was my 300th trigpoint.

Very misty morning, so no golfers about. Took the footpath from Blackmoorfoot Road. Trig in very good condition. There's a old Observer Corps. lookout post over by the observatory if that's your thing.

Parked on Blackmoorfoot Road in long lay by Grid Ref SE 10694 13726. Took path toward Huddersfield Observatory on footpath on edge of golf club round to grid ref SE 10564 14036 can see trig over fairway notice the not footpath sign wait for golfers to pass before crossing so bag and return same way found out later can access by public footpath ha well.

Easily accessible and visible. Within confines of golf course and just off a public footpath. Reasonable views over the golf course and surrounding area. Pillar is in good condition. Has a plastic plug and two holes open.

Crossland Golf Course, c'mon the bit of heather it sits on is hardly 'Heath'. Had no problems with access, chatted to a local golfer who told me it wasn't the busiest of golf courses and ambled up to the trig. Good views all around. Last trig on an 18 mile circular trek from Slaithwaite on a lovely autumnal day.

ROW goes directly accross the fareway past the goml sign. Isuppose it means no right of way ALONG the fareway, but it's a bit in yer face. I scuffed my feet as i crossed...oops

I found myself surrounded by lots of golfers who fortunately were either friendly or indifferent. The public footpath was not visible to me but the trig was easily found. There is a small observatory close by.

Theres a right of way across the course but it isn't clearly marked so maybe not surprising if you stray slightly off line to the trig. But beware grumpy golfers. Trig has plastic plug otherwise OK. Theres what appears to be an Observatory in the adjacent field.
