Was visiting the cemetery so took a jaunt up Cnoc Glas Heilla by climbing the fence and then a short, steep climb to the trigpoint. Quite alot of bracken at this time of year. Views are stunning in all directions.

Started from the cemetery that I found incredibly moving, a quiet oasis of green tucked away from anywhere, surrounded by heather and bracken. I kept stopping to look back down at it. Then when I got to the top there were excellent views of the islands on Loch Bracadale. A special place.

Final trig of the day on 150 mile roadtrip round Skye - and we saved the best till last! What a cracking little hill, and a billy bonus tump to boot. Parked at entrance to cemetery for a short, steep climb to summit plateau. Pillar has a horizontal crack on one side and what looks like a filled crack across the front above the FB, hence the 'slightly damaged'. Original cap in place, raised lettering; rear and RHD side sight holes open, front plug degrading. Lovely 360deg panorama but cuillin peaks remain in cloud as they have all day.

HISTORY: Pillar completed 12th September 1957 costing £57.5s.4d. Levelled for height in 1958. Computed as tertiary triangulation station NG24/T70 in 1959. Last maintained by the OS in April 1978. SITE VISIT: Parked to SE of junction at NG350342, further parking outside cemetery. Climbed the southern side where there is an obvious path to the summit. Cnoc Glas Heilla is a grazing top. It just doesn't get any better than this trig. Strongly recommend a sunny summer evening visit. Pillar in good condition. Spider retains original OS centre cap with raised large narrow letters. Flush bracket faces northwest ~305°. Vented through SE and SW sight holes. Spectacular 360° panoramic view.
