Hilltop pillar in scenic woodland location, offering great view and a bench to sit on and take it in. Free car park nearby makes this an easy trig to access as well as a rewarding one.

Following my walk of two hill-forts and four pillars, I glanced at the map in the hope of spotting an easy trig on my route home and Hesworth fitted the bill perfectly. It has a useful small carpark, and within eight minutes of parking I was there (at the top of Hesworth Hill), and back again. Splendid little hill with good views to west and south. Pillar retains its cap with deep lettering, and two sight-holes open.

Pillar has a small chip from one top corner and small amount of screed missing from another top corner, but otherwise vgc. Original cap in place, deeply indented lettering; rear and RHD side sight holes open. Extensive views S to South Downs. Nice place to be with early morning sun on frosty ground.

From car park via here to the Swan in Lower Fittleworth for vg lunch. Sunny morning so great views of a long run of the S Downs. S and E s/hole open, but otherwise vgc, metal cap indented letters.

I wish I had read the logs about there being a car park. I parked at the far end of the village and walked through it before finding a way up this small hill. Got well scratched looking for a cache and then came up to the trig.

A simple walk up from the car park - the woodland and landscape is really interesting here - then you step out into the open space that surrounds the trig and the views are just amazing. Not expected at all! Having added a couple of other trigs so far today (a few more to go) I seem to be following hussyhill round!!!! Me 69m

Found on a visit to the night cache GCZ35Q, so visibility of the trigpoint was not ideal. The pillar condition appeared to be fairly good, with only minor weathering. Top plate and flush bracket were in very good condition.

A great place all year round and a popular land mark with great views. The pillar is in good condition and easy to find after a short walk from the carpark or a longer walk around the common.This is number 1 in the bag so to speak.

Located on Hesworth Common, reaching the site seemed to involve walking through an awful lot of bracken. However it was worth it for the view alone. The pillar is in good condition, and there is a bench seat nearby ideal for worn out trigpointers.....

This pillar is located on Hesworth Common, near Fittleworth, on an open sandy area surrounded with heather with mixed woodland and bracken to the lower slopes, and fantastic views across the Rother Valley to the south. The pillar is in great shape with all metalwork intact, and two open sighting holes.
