A great day hiking with friends in the winter sun. A late start from Ladybower to Stanage Edge. Then accross the moor to catch the sunset over Bamford Edge. Great views including those from the trig point. No change in condition since my last visit

A life affirming half day walk from Bamford circling to Hathersage on my tod for a change. Once upon a time used to be in the Peak every week so a shock to see not bagged these. Glorious icy, bitter wind and only a few people about. Next stop... Yorkshire.

Parked in the car park just off the Ringlinglow Road. Took the public right of way (PRoW) from there up to the Stanage Edge pillar (TP6150). Then headed north west up the PRoW to this pillar, the High Neb pillar. The cap was missing, so I replaced it.

Nice walk along Stanage Edge ascending from Hollin Bank car park, then along the edge to the summit and trig pillar at High Neb, the trig appearing uncannily out of the cloud. No views at this point due to low cloud and rain squalls, but the cloud did lift later on. A white pillar showing a few signs of exposure to the high Peak weather, no cap. Return via Stanage Pole.

One of 3 visited on a walk from Redmires Reservoir. Trig was in good condition but the weather not so. It’s worth doing Stanage Edge and Stanage Pole together.

Visited during a days hiking in the Peak District. This one is sited on Stanage Edge at the Bamford end and has really good views in all directions. The pillar is generally in good condition and looks good painted white. Approximately 4 to 5 inches of the foundation are exposed due to erosion and the centre cap is missing from the spider.

(1872) Made use of the small car park at Dennis Knoll. Good track to the pillar, though the gale force winds made it a struggle to stand at times. Plenty of sheep grazing on the track, but they didn't bother me and I didn't bother them. As with Stanage Edge, there wasn't another soul to be seen today, so had the trig to myself. Great views to be had even with the bad weather today, and the Sun did momentarily break through the clouds once or twice whilst here. Pillar in decent enough condition, and still largely sporting it's white coat of paint. The centre cap is missing though, and the foundations have been exposed by the elements. Located just within Derbyshire it would seem, with the Yorkshire boundary being only a few feet away. Pillar history: Built on the 13th of July 1938, at a cost of Ł8 15s 6d. Last maintained by the OS in July of 1985.

Visited during edges walk from Curbar Gap to Cutthroat Bridge with Mayes. Braved the hordes along the top of Stanage (it's popular for a reason I suppose) to get to this trig, preferable today that the southern trig as fewer people about. Yomped across to Bamford Edge.

Least visited trig on Stanage, it is on the High Peak Marathon route which used to be ran at night in March. Teams of 4 set out in staggered intervals for a +40 mile hike around the Derwent Watershed. So executed a good plan today, out early on my bike, a BCQ control (1st in S Yorkshire), 3 trigs and I rescued a young rook. Gifted to the rook.

Repeat visit, horizontal rain (Storm Hannah). Approach over the squelchy moors back of Stanage, pretty dreary. Large party of walkers really not dressed for the weather, they gave me flapjack though, happy days. Didn't bother with a pic.

Very nice place to be, afternoon turned out fine with a good wind blowing. From CP to S, at Dennis Knoll. Good path/track all the way up through the escarpment, no scrambling needed. Pillar has no top cap or plug; front sight hole sealed, other 3 open. Superb panorama.

Short walk up from car park. Lovely autumn day. Ver white. Someone has attached a rusting padlock hmmm if the padlock signifies love then this love is very cheap. Lots of mud marks from people climing on top.

Parked in the climbers car park at the Southern end of Stanage Edge and walked out to the trig. Despite having been on Stanage many times over many years I had not done the official trig logging thing!! Big temperature inversion going on in the Derwent Valley so a good day to be on the high ground. Trig looking good in its fairly recent white coat.

Back to the Dark Peak and further rock climbing haunts of my youth. Parked at the unfashionable west end, (ie 20 mins from the crag as opposed to 10 mins further along the road). Familiar ground, so no need for a map, (ie we got lost!) Way too far west before we gained the ridge and reached Stanedge end before we realise our mistake. Easilly spotted once we headed in the right direction. Warm day for March, but a bit hazy so the Win Hills etc not as dramatic as they perhaps should be.

The first trigpoints on a route taken from “Peak District Trigpointing Walks” Parked in the lay-by to the west of Rod Moor and walked past Moscar Lodge up to High Neb. Very wet day with low cloud and bad visibility – very few folks about. Thought the sun was going to break through as I approached the trigpoint and I did have limited views for a short time. Continued onto Stanage Pole and Redmires Reservoir.

Last of 3 done on a circular walk from Grindleford. Quieter at this end of the edge with fewer muggles about. Needs a coat of paint as it is flaking off.

Great walk with two mates Paul and Tracker Dog from Stanage (no trig) pole. Views brill especially looking south to the steep edge itself of Stanage Edge. Good views of the eastern edge of the Kinder plateau. A cold but glorious day.

I parked at the car park to the South East, and walked along the snowy ridge to here. Gave the dog his lunch out of an old ice cream tub and then had to make a slippery climb down the edge to retrieve the lib that blew away. Tried to tell the dog that was his job but he was having none of it.

After bagging Back Tor trig parked car on the A57 grid ref SK 23144 87842 took footpath the Sheffield country walk along Stanage edge at the trig saw a couple of stoats in the rocks.

Bagged on a circular walk from Hathersage. Came along ridge from A57. It's worth looking over cliff edge to view all the millstones scattered on the hill side below. (Summit visited many times since).

Plenty of melting snow to make all the paths awash! Been here many times, with nice a pillar position overlooking the edge. In good condition, with all its bits. For those interested, the round, numbered, 'pools' that occur in profusion along the edge were cut in the 18th century to provide drinking for the Red Grouse in dry weather. Children were used to ferry the water up to keep them full! That's when they weren't being pushed up chimneys with a brush, that is

Trig could do with another coat of paint. Up here with my university group as part of navigation training. Well worth having a look at the grouse shooting butress's (about 250m behind trig away from edge of rockface). If you walk to the hut and then follow the gully/4x4 track then you will come to a line of them. Mist just clearing when i got here today. Later found the pole (like teasel) but must disagree on the colour of the symbol, it is definatly a blue triangle not a black one!

Flooded stepping stones on the River Derwent scuppered our original walk from Hathersage, so this was a short but worthy replacement. Parked at car park to SE and climbed up the Edge (several climbers on the rocks themselves). Very overcast and extremely windy day, but good views, and an enjoyable walk if not as originally planned

High Neb... situated on the edge of Hallam Moors at the top of the Stanage Edge escarpment. I parked at the north end of the footpath on the A57 at N53 23.220’ W01 39.316’ where there is parking for a couple of cars. It’s a relatively easy path up to the trig point. It was grey and overcast when I visited but the views should be stunning in bright, clear conditions. The trig point is complete and in good condition considering it’s exposed location.
