Parked in the layby opposite Steenwood Lane and had a wander down the lane. Trig is situated just off the farm track, half a mile from the main road with views over the reservoir. No-one about today at all, Trig in good condition with bits of white paint still present,

(3310) Road closures along with a stuck horse box down a very narrow country lane meant this one was a right faff to get to. Nearly didn't bother towards the end. My reward for persevering was yet another stoney and rough single track lane to the pillar. Ah well... The pillar sits off Steenwood Lane about 250m into a farm access track. Easily reached on foot. I parked at the entrance. Pillar is all good and still retains a full compliment of metalwork - centre cap with lightly indented lettering. Traces of white paint here and there. Some of the farm clutter encroaching today. Pillar history: Built on the 27th of April 1938, at a cost of £4 18s 0d. Last maintained by the OS in May of 1982.

A revisit by bike. I made a Pig's ear of this - I knew that I'd got to take the first left after coming over the reservoir - a road appeared sooner than I expected but I took it - I passed some holiday cabins under construction and ended up at St Stephen's Hill Farm where there was a new up market wedding venue and holiday barns. I retreated down the newly constructed road that wasn't shown on any maps that I was using. I Climbed further up the hill to Admaston and down Steennwood Lane. I think you could have used the track from the farm up to the pillar but I wasn't risking it.

further visit. An easily reached pillar, although the lane requires a bit of care on a bicycle with much loose grit and sandy patches. Although only a moderate hill top it does enjoy a wide and pleasant aspect over the surrounds.

re-visit. First logged in 2007 but several un-logged visits since. Excellent lookout over Blithfield Reservoir. The car park on the opposite side packed with cars. Took opportunity to stoke up on more calories.

Thought I'd better walk along the drive way from the lane to show some purist willing. A lovely view both ways over Blithfield Reservoir, which is at capacity. We in South Staffs Water Authority rarely want for water as most comes from underground as well as from Blithfield. Didin't have time for Bagot's Park. A return visit to the area will have to do.

An easy-access trig on the grass verge of a farm access road. Original plug with slightly indented letters. Quite a large amount of paint. The concrete base is exposed about 4" all round. W sighthole open, others closed. Lovely view N over Blithfield Reservoir. Nice spot!

Visible from the "road", view over the reservoir is a little blocked by the shape of the land. Views in the southwards direction might be nice if it was a clearer day.
